NCR Forms Overview

Carbonless paper was invented by chemists working for the NCR Forms Company in the early 50's. Carbonless forms paper is commonly called NCR Forms, which is a short form for ‘No Carbon Required’.

Carbonless forms paper works equivalent to carbon paper. It simply makes a copy of any document, generally the handwritten part of the document without using a photocopier or any other method. Carbonless forms paper is also ideal for any company looking to lower on environmental waste and want to advance her productivity.

The way carbonless forms paper works, is when pressures applied to the top sheet it causes micro-capsules on the backside of the sheet to break and drop their dye, which act in response with clay on top of the sheet below, giving off a nearly perfect copy. This whole process creates a duplicate of the original writing on the first sheet on top of the next sheet giving the several copies of the same print.

Carbonless forms started out being known as NCR Forms or NCR Printing and have many uses such as invoices, sales receipts, work orders, home care forms, almost any business form. The old carbon forms were messy, but the new NCR or carbonless forms are quick and easy to use.

Our standard NCR forms come padded in collated sets preprinted in either 1 or 2 colors. Black or red numbering can be added if you prefer or when set serialized forms are required.

1 and 2 Color printing does not allow for bleeds or borders. Artwork should have 5/16" (0.3125") space in from the trim line for grippers. For more information, see the "File Setup" tab.
